K&M Tire's Philanthropy Board

K&M Tire has been a big supporter of our community and many different organizations through the years. In efforts to organize our fund raising activities and better serve our communities, we have elected a Philanthropy Board of Directors.

Two of our foundational principles are making a positive difference in our communities and possessing a servant's attitude. Our employees have come together and raised money for many great organizations such as the Relay For Life, Food for the Poor, United Way and many others.

K&M employees nominated fellow workers for the Board. Ken Langhals, President of K&M Tire, and Cheryl Gossard, Vice President of K&M Tire, will be permanent board members. The other board positions will be elected every two years.  Elected to serve on the initial board were: Donna Burgei, Accounts Payable Supervisor; Nancy Fischer, HR Specialist; Brian Gossard, Vice President of Operations; Katie Ringwald, Credit & Collections Supervisor; Pam Rosswurm, HR Manager; Sergio Villasana, Inside Sales Representative; and Mandy Weimerskirch, Controller.

The board will be responsible for setting the direction of our philanthropy efforts.

Before the voting commenced, those nominated had to write two short essays on why philanthropy is important to K&M Tire and why it is important to them personally.

We would like to congratulate our new Philanthropy Board as we look forward to seeing the direction our philanthropy efforts will take in the future.

Relay Results Sunny Despite Mother Nature

Despite the weather, K&M Tire employees turned out to support the 13th annual Delphos Relay For Life Event. Mother Nature forced the event to be moved inside the Delphos Jefferson High School from its scheduled place on the outdoor track on June 12, 2015.

Craft and food choices lined the walls of the school cafeteria. K&M Tire’s team, Kruisin’ For a Miracle, sold chicken quesadillas, lemon shake ups, pop, and baked goods increasing their funds raised by $379.75 to a total of over $28,000 with a little help from corporate match.

According to a report in the Delphos Herald, the Relay evening ended with $64,000 of the $73,000 goal raised. Numerous teams have yet to turn in all of their money. Funds can be donated to this year’s event until August 31, 2015.

Fundraisers held throughout the year by the K&M Tire team included jeans days, restaurant days at Pizza Hut and Cabo Mexican Restaurant, casino bus trip, raffles, laundry detergent sales, food days, bowling event, silent auction, brat dinner and other fun activities.

K&M Silent Auction: Making A Lot Of Noise To Fight Against Cancer

A record $4,932.50 was raised during the 7th Annual Relay For Life Bowling fundraiser held by Kruisin’ For a Miracle, K&M Tire’s Relay For Life team. The Delphos Bowling Alley hosted over 80 attendees for the event.

The winner of our Chicago Getaway Raffle was also drawn that evening. During the week leading up to the bowling event, Kruisin’ For a Miracle sold raffle tickets for the Getaway which included a two night stay at Trump Tower, a $500 spa gift card, a $300 gift certificate for Joe’s Seafood, Prime Steak & Stone Crab and two premium tickets to either the Chicago Cubs or Whitesox. This prize package valued at $2,500 was donated by our friends at Yokohama Tire. Through the raffle, an additional $2,520 was raised to fight cancer, for a total of $7,452.50 for the night.

The silent auction portion of the evening brought in an impressive $4,441.50 for over 50 different items such as a cordless screw driver, Emmitt Smith autographed football, Indy 500 tickets, golf bag, and more. The 50/50 drawing resulted in $191 for the cause, and team entries fees for the bowling event totaled $300.

K & M generously matched the money raised at the event.

In more than 5,200 communities and 20 countries, Relay For Life events comprise the signature fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. At Relay For Life events, communities come together to honor cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against a disease that has already taken too much. Relay For Life teams raise money throughout the year, then during the event they take turns walking or running around a track or path at a local high school, park, or fairground.

The values of the Relay for Life Team at K & M reflect those set forth by the company. K & M Tire values making a positive difference in the community and possessing a servant’s attitude. The employees of the company strive to live with integrity, character, and passion.
